The Packerland Region is a local group of members of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (VCCA). As a group we engage in many family and car related events. From providing help at the Appleton Old Car Show every July, summer driving tours, Christmas party, Annual Banquet and hosting regional and national events (Tri-Region and Middle West Meets).

We meet monthly, usually the first Sunday of the month (unless it falls on a Holiday or Packer game) with summer tours on Saturday afternoons. Meeting and tour locations vary (see Chevy Clatter for details).

A Short History of the Packerland Region VCCA-

as remembered by Robert Hensel

circa 1986

There were four of us that were members of the Wisconsin Region. They held their meetings in the Milwaukee area and that meant a round trip of about 200 miles or better a month to attend meetings.

On one of the trips we talked about starting our own region, so we would not have to drive so far every month. We knew of several other people in the north eastern part of Wisconsin that collected Chevrolets and maybe we could get the region going. After about a year of talk, we got the show on the road and had a couple of meetings at John Kemke’s home in Darboy. We had the 12 members we needed to have a Region, so we applied for our charter. We got it about June of 1974 I think.

After the first year we had 27 members of which 13 are still members. At the present time we have 36 members. We hold meetings the first Sunday of the month. The winter months they are held in Brillion, Wisconsin and the banquet is the first Saturday in April. From May through October we like to hold outside events. We go on tours and outings and have picnics and really enjoy the wonderful Wisconsin country side and many friends we have made through the club.

In 1979 we hosted the 3rd Middle West Meet at Manitowoc and had a good showing of members throughout the middle west. This year we are hosting the 10th Middle West Meet at Green Bay and hope to have an even better meet than we had before. It is a lot of work, but the enjoyment a person gets from it makes the effort worth it.

The Middle West Meets are hosted by Regions in the 4th and 5th divisions of the VCCA. We have many members that travel over 1000 miles one way to go to these meets, so that is why we now hold them from Tuesday through Saturday instead of going into Sunday, so people have time to get home before Monday.
